I'm Mikey J Marsden, an accessibility advocate and one of three elected Members of UK Youth Parliament, representing Leeds from March 2026 to 2028!Explore the links below to see what I stand for and what I'm up to!
I became disabled in late 2024 with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) and realised how inaccessible basic necesities such as healthcare, transport, and education can be, and I want to change that!I now live with PoTS, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), and I devote my time and influence to advocating for young people with SEND all around the UK.
As a Youth Voice Representitive and Accessibility Advocate, I hold office in various youth councils and boards, including:
- Leeds SEND Youth Council
- Yorkshire and Humber SEND Youth Alliance
- NHS Leeds Youth Board
- PoTS UK Social Media Team
- ABRSM Youth Advisory Board
- UK Youth ParliamentI'm also very happy to be working on campaigns and programs such as the DfE Change Program, which aims to increase accessibility in education for those aged 11 - 25, and the Yorkshire Health and Wellbeing Campaign, focusing on ensuring young people with SEND get the high quality healthcare they deserve!
